Time for another Double Bubble to help the day live strong!
S U S T A I N
I don't know if you have heard of the Rock band Disciple, but they have recently released a new album as of Sept. 14 titled "Horseshoes and Handgrenades". If you have not heard of them, I think you should put an end to that and take an ear to some of their stuff.I bought their new album on itunes the day it was released, plugged my computer into the entertainment system in the living room... boom! Life was great! Alone in the house tidying up the living room and kitchen with cranked up awesomeness. Dancing around like a giant spas because I don't know how to, but who cares, I was enjoying a moment of content, freedom, happiness, and excitement. Have you ever experienced this? If not, be open to the opportunity; its refreshing, relaxing, and rejuvenating.
Disciple is one of my favorite bands, do you have one? Ever since I learned they were putting together a new album, I was stoked, pumped, and weary. Their last album, which was enjoyable, was a flop to my hightened expectations. This new album, though, is by far one of my favorites. I'm listening to it right now! The songs are positive and encouraging, which is awesome! Because I'm tired of listening to a lot of depressing songs deprived of hope and what not.
I had a moment of joy, as I mentioned above, but it only lasted the day. However, the secret to experiencing this is to listen, read, or do something that is exciting, that you enjoy, something that isn't depressing, something good. But that's just part of it. I warn you, an experience like this based on something like listening to something you like, reading a great story or book, watching a good movie, hanging out with friends, or whatever it is that brings a moments joy into a busy chaotic life, it doesn't last. Eventually the joy of this experience fades and we sink back into the grey we came out of for that brief breath of fresh air.
Nothing we do can ever sustain the joy, peace, happiness, love, and content we seek; contentment even in a life we don't fully understand, or a life rough around the edges, tattered along the rugged road. Good news though, there is One who is more than capable to sustain us both in the good and the bad. Don't rush off at what I'm about to say, this is the Double Bubble: Jesus, God. Ever heard of him? Do you know him? Here's a thought, if you have had both regular and double bubble bubble gum, then you know that double bubble is longer lasting, has more flavor, and bigger than the regular kind. Regular bubble gum is like our lives without God, our own efforts to sustain the things we want and seek. Double bubble is like our lives with God, where we give ourselves to him that he may sustain us, and the true things that bring happiness, and joy.
Don't fret, I'm not going to hit you in the head with a bible and a lot of Christian talk. I just thought it would be a good idea for my first post on this blog to reflect the whole of what it is about and why I started it. It is my goal to bring to you the goods in life from an awesome Rock band, a cool new CD, movies, books, to awesome and fun things to do. It is also my goal open your eyes to the things that have and can have an impact on our lives and others', and to let you know that you can have an impact on the world and in each other's lives. So welcome to the delicious and sticky world of Double Bubble, but not the gum.
